Intuitive steigert Umsatz um 22 Prozent auf 3,05 Mrd. Dollar, 546 da-Vinci-Systeme platziert

Quelle: Intuitive Quartalsmitteilung vom 20. Umsatzwachstum: 3.048,7 / 2.505,1 = 1,217, also 21,7 Prozent. Veröffentlichte Werte, keine Schätzungen.
Stand: 20. Okt. 2026

Intuitive is the reference business for surgical robotics: 12,094 installed da Vinci systems and 546 placements in a quarter, more than most challengers have placed in total. Its leasing mix and its instrument revenue set the price and financing expectations that every new entrant, from Medtronic Hugo to CMR Surgical and Chinese makers, has to meet.
The quarter shows that da Vinci 5 upgrades and usage-based leases are doing the work. Systems revenue grew 30%, faster than procedures, which means hospitals are replacing older robots as well as adding new ones.
Wettbewerbsanalyse
Medtronic's Hugo is the only challenger with US clearance in a major specialty (urology, December 2025) backed by a medtech incumbent's sales force. CMR Surgical, Distalmotion and Moon Surgical do not publish quarterly placement counts comparable with Intuitive's 546. In China, MicroPort MedBot and Edge Medical compete in domestic tenders, a risk Intuitive itself names in its release.
The settlement matters more to rivals than to Intuitive's earnings. If injunctive relief eases restrictions on instruments or servicing, independent service and instrument suppliers gain an opening that challengers' own robots have not created.
Bewertungskontext
Intuitive spent $2.94 billion on buybacks in the quarter at an average of about $377 a share (2,940 / 7.8), using its cash pile rather than debt. Cash and investments fell to $6.80 billion. Non-GAAP EPS rose 25% to $3.00, faster than revenue, because operating leverage and the buyback both helped.
GAAP figures carry the one-off $450 million charge; comparisons with peers should use operating income before the charge, about $1.04 billion.
Folgen für die Lieferkette
The release says Mexico makes a significant majority of Intuitive's instruments and accessories, Germany a majority of its endoscopes, and that certain materials are imported from China. The outlook carries a tariff cost of about 0.9% of revenue, and the quarter included a $22 million net benefit from refunds of tariffs paid under IEEPA in earlier periods.
Worauf jetzt zu achten ist
Court filings for preliminary approval of the $450 million settlement and the injunctive terms; the third-quarter 10-Q; da Vinci 5 share of placements (58% this quarter); the share of usage-based leases (29%); Intuitive's 2027 guidance in January 2027.
Analystensicht
Thesis: the antitrust settlement is a one-off cost and the upgrade cycle continues. Confidence: medium, because the injunctive terms are not public. Our view would change if the approved relief allows third-party instrument reuse at scale or if quarterly placements fall below the 427 of a year ago.
Offene Fragen
What are the injunctive terms and when do they take effect? How many of the 162 systems that left the base were trade-ins for da Vinci 5? Will usage-based leases keep rising as a share of placements, and what does that do to systems revenue per unit?
