Reinforcement Learning Based Heterogeneous Task Allocation Under Spatio-Temporal Environmental Uncertainty for Multi-Robot Teams

Xi Lin, Yaxuan Li, Paul Szenher, Brendan Englot

Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs) have been increasingly deployed to perform different kinds of maritime tasks in recent years, which motivates the need for a reliable task allocation policy that can adapt to heterogeneous tasks and maritime disturbances. In this work, we formulate a multi-robot task allocation problem in which a team of ASVs with heterogeneous capabilities needs to complete tasks of different types and appearance times under unknown stochastic spatio-temporal uncertainties from maritime disturbances.

Hand2Robot: Object-Centric 4D Hand Reconstruction from Human Demonstrations for Robotics

Zetao Du, Weiqing Wang, Hanbing Zhang, Yimiao Zhou, Ye Shi, Liang Wang, Jingya Wang

Human demonstrations can capture task-relevant manipulation without using the target robot, but the recorded hand motions cannot directly serve as robot action supervision. Hand reconstruction and motion retargeting provide a direct route to such supervision, yet recovering hand motion alone does not ensure physically consistent hand-object interactions.

Distributed area coverage path planning subject to the inclusion of a headland path

Mogens Plessen

A deterministic method for the problem of distributed area coverage path planning subject to the inclusion of a headland path is presented. Given a, in general, non-convex area to be covered that may, in general, include obstacle areas, multiple robots, at least one robot depot, and constraints on each machinery such as a working width, work capacity limits, travel capacity limits, nonholonomic dynamical constraints and, possibly, a robot start and end depot assignment, distributed paths for each machinery are calculated that collectively enable full area coverage.

Harnessing VLM in Embodied RL: From Reward Regressor to Success Detector via Exploration-Augmented Key-Observation Gating

Xin Liu, Yutong Jiang, Jian Su, Ziheng Wang, Chuang Wang, Haoran Li, Dongbin Zhao

VLMs provide promising solutions to embodied reward design. Most current methods that train VLMs as reward regressors not only require extensive annotations but are also primarily designed for finetuning pretrained policies, and perform less well in the more challenging from-scratch RL setting.

Phase-Gated Constrained Reinforcement Learning for End-to-End Capture and Detumbling of Non-Cooperative Targets

Álvaro Belmonte-Baeza, Celia Redondo-Verdú, José L. Ramón, Miguel Cazorla, Leonard Felicetti, Jorge Pomares

Active debris removal requires a servicer spacecraft to approach a non-cooperative tumbling object, capture it, and arrest its rotation. This sequence is conventionally divided among phase-specific controllers, each depending on knowledge of the target's inertia, a dedicated grappling fixture, or a hand-designed switch at the contact-rich seam where such pipelines are most fragile.

Competitive Task Allocation with Temporal Proposal Windows and Improved Artificial Potential Fields for Dual-Arm Industrial Manipulation

Surya Prakash S. K, Bhuvan Narula, Jagannath Prasad Sahoo, Jayakumar VK, Praful Hambarde, Amit Shukla

Modern industrial automation demands autonomous collaborative systems capable of coordinated manipulation in workspaces with heterogeneous object arrangements. Existing systems rely on predetermined trajectories and rigid allocation strategies, causing suboptimal workspace utilization and collision risks.

Vision-Predictor-Action: Towards Efficient Embodied AI via Neuro-Symbolic JEPA Predictors

Yeonseok Lee

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models commonly generate robot actions token by token through Large Language Model (LLM) decoders, causing inference latency to grow with action sequence length and limiting closed-loop control frequency. We present Goal-Conditioned Vision-Predictor-Action (VPA), which replaces autoregressive decoders with a lightweight latent control loop.

Look Before You Move: Agent-Interface-Aligned Supervision for Open-World Mobile Manipulation

Ronghe Qiu, Teli Ma, Jiaming Zhou, Zeying Gong, Yiting He, Qiang Huang, Junwei Liang

Open-world mobile manipulation requires a robot to find an object, approach it, and move it to a target receptacle from a language instruction. Training vision-language model (VLM) agents for these tasks requires demonstrations of both action selection and active vision.

ReTrace: Cross-Stage Failure Attribution for Self-Improving Robotic Manipulation

Yue Yu, Bin Zhu, Junhui Li, Jiayu Wang, Shijie Zhou, Jingjing Chen

General-purpose multimodal foundation models are increasingly capable of directly controlling robots, yet improving their manipulation capabilities through autonomous interaction remains challenging. A key challenge to such self-improvement is learning from failures in complex manipulation tasks involving cross-stage dependencies, where an action may succeed locally but cause a later stage to fail.

Jacobian State Augmented Viable Kinematic Safety Filter

Siddharth Singh, Joshua Vaughan

Safety Filters (SF) are leveraged to design certifiably safe controllers, which ensures forward invariance on a defined safe set when the filter is feasible. Predictive Safety Filters (PSF) embed these constraints to a closed-loop model-based optimization method to improve constraint satisfaction, and reduce feasibility loss caused by myopic, one-step filtering.

RESCUE: Is This Alarm Worth Acting On? Counterfactual Evaluation of VLA Runtime Monitors

David Ahmedt-Aristizabal, Abdelwahed Khamis, Mohammad Ali Armin, Lars Petersson

Runtime failure monitors for robot policies are typically evaluated by how accurately they distinguish failed from successful executions. Yet an accurate alarm may arrive too late for recovery, while an unnecessary intervention may disrupt an execution that would otherwise succeed.

Failure-Resilient Multi-Robot Coordination with $k$-Connectivity Constrained Submodular Maximization

Yoonjae Hwang, Hojune Kim, Ellen Novoseller, Guangyao Shi, Gaurav S. Sukhatme

Multi-robot coordination is essential in applications such as coverage, target tracking, and information gathering, where robots must jointly select actions to maximize team performance. Submodular maximization provides an effective framework for such coordination, and resilient variants further account for robot failures or adversarial removals.

Towards Safer Cities: A Design Process for Perception Datasets in Urban Driving Scenarios

Alexander Kroth, Cristian Martinez, Steven Peters

Urban environments present significant challenges for the perception systems of automated driving due to their high complexity, characterized by dense traffic, diverse obstacles, or a wide range of possible scenarios. While numerous automotive datasets exist, few focus on urban settings, and the majority are acquired exclusively on passenger cars and overlook other transport modalities such as heavy-duty trucks, busses and trams.

Reflect-VLA: Internalizing Reflective Guidance via Dual-Path On-Policy Self-Distillation for Autonomous Driving

Yuechen Luo, He Chong, Fang Li, Shaoqing Xu, Hexin Zhang, Ruiqi Zhang, Ziying Song, Lei Yang, Zhi-Xin Yang, Fuxi Wen

Reinforcement Learning (RL) substantially improves planning performance in autonomous-driving Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models. However, existing RL methods rely on scalar trajectory rewards that measure overall quality but fail to identify specific planning errors or provide actionable correction signals.

HorizonNav: Geometry-Guided Video Diffusion for Anticipatory 3D Robot Navigation

Hajira Amjad, Valerii Serpiva, Viacheslav Liubimov, Didar Seyidov, Dzmitry Tsetserukou

We present HorizonNav, a video diffusion-based framework for anticipatory robot navigation that transforms a single RGB image and a text prompt into a geometrically aligned representation of plausible surrounding 3D space. Given the initial observation and a textual description of the reconstruction objective, a vision-language model, guided by designed instructions, interprets the scene and constructs structured prompts for a video diffusion model.

Grounded-Dreamer: Robot Learning from World Model Synthetic Data with Physical Grounding

Feng Jiang, Shu Chen, Yuanfei Wang, Yuan Li, Zhenhao Shen, Jiaqi Liang, Yang Chen, Lei Wei, Chen Xie, Ruihai Wu

Scaling robot manipulation policies requires large amounts of diverse, action-labeled data, yet collecting such data in the real world remains expensive and difficult to scale. Existing methods either depend on human teleoperation, rely on simulation with limited visual realism, or use human videos that lack embodiment-specific annotations.
