Lotte Hi-Mart plans humanoids at its Icheon logistics centre from 2028 under a Yujin Robot-led national project running to 2031

Lotte Hi-Mart and Lotte Global Logistics said on Oct 7 that they have joined a national project to develop Korean industry-specific humanoid robots, run by KEIT, the industrial-technology planning agency under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, Yonhap News reported; MEKAWIRE did not find a release on either company's site. According to the report, the programme runs from this year to 2031 with the aim of reducing reliance on foreign robots and AI models; Yujin Robot leads it, Seeso and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) take part as research organisations, and the two Lotte affiliates join as demand companies. Lotte Hi-Mart plans to put humanoids into order checking, product and barcode recognition, picking and packing at its Icheon logistics centre from 2028, and Lotte Global Logistics said it already trialled an AI bipedal humanoid last year at its Jincheon fulfilment centre, covering apparel picking through poly-bag packing. The project is the KEIT logistics-humanoid programme that Yujin Robot cited on Oct 14 when it said it would move from AMRs into humanoid task automation while staying hardware-agnostic, which MEKAWIRE reported; this report names the customers and the 2028 deployment date. MEKAWIRE adds Yujin Robot to its company database with this story.
