Intel plans to launch Razer Lake AX, a system-on-chip for robotics, in 2028 with about 700 TOPS of AI performance, Intel executive Cho Min-sung said at a semiconductor-for-humanoids conference at COEX in Seoul on Oct 16, according to TheElec.

He said Intel's current Panther Lake-based robotics development kit offers a theoretical 180 TOPS and that the next-generation Nova Lake follows early next year, and that most of Intel's Korean customers aim to mass-produce AMRs next year and humanoids in 2028, which sets the chip's timing; Intel has not published a release on the roadmap.

For comparison, NVIDIA launched its Blackwell-based Jetson T4000 robot computer at $1,999 in 1,000-unit volumes at CES in January, as MEKAWIRE reported, so Intel's 2028 part would enter a market where NVIDIA already sets the reference.

Good or bad news for the company?
