Embodiment-Aware Planning for Heterogeneous Bimanual Manipulation
Pairing a suction-cup arm with a parallel-jaw arm and planning which one holds the object at each moment completed 72.5% of four simulated transfer tasks that a single arm could not do at all, against 20% for a greedy planner, according to a preprint from IIT Mandi, the Indian Institute of Science and Brown University. A faster beam-search version cut planning time by 82.9% while still succeeding 65% of the time.
