- Doosan Robotics hands the CEO job to Youngmin Kwon, who ran Bobcat hydraulics unit Doosan Mottrol
Doosan Robotics said in a post on its newsroom dated Oct 1 that it has appointed Youngmin Kwon, until now head of Doosan Mottrol, as chief executive. Kwon joined the strategic planning division of Doosan Corporation in 2000, served as chief strategy officer of Doosan Bobcat from 2018 to 2020 and has led Doosan Mottrol, a hydraulic components maker owned by Bobcat, as chief executive since 2021. The company said it expects his record in global business and corporate management to support its medium and long-term growth and competitiveness; it did not say who he replaces or give a start date. Kwon takes over a cobot maker in transition: MEKAWIRE reported in March that Doosan Robotics' 2025 net loss widened to KRW 59.5 billion as cobot arm sales halved, and on Oct 6 the company said two national physical-AI projects worth about KRW 98.9 billion, including an on-device-AI cobot line and an industrial humanoid due for commercialisation from 2031, had been awarded to it.

Doosan Robotics and Doosan Enerbility terminated on 10 December 2024 the split-merger that would have made Doosan Bobcat a subsidiary of the cobot maker, two days before shareholder votes. The companies said a sharp fall in their share prices had widened the gap with appraisal prices and made closing uncertain. The move ended a five-month restructuring that had already lost its Bobcat share swap in August.
