Kia is a South Korean carmaker and a member of Hyundai Motor Group. Beyond passenger cars it builds purpose-built vehicles such as the mid-size PV5, and it has been testing remote driving, in which an operator in a control centre drives a vehicle with no one on board over 4G and 5G networks, under a Korean regulatory sandbox exemption obtained in April 2025, according to the group newsroom.
