Four early-stage Daegu robotics and spatial-computing start-ups backed by Korea's science ministry held 79 buyer consultations worth $30.47m at the China International Industry Fair in Shanghai on Oct 12 to 16, the Daegyeong Robot Business Promotion Association and Daegu Technopark said, according to Robot Newspaper.

Cha Robotics accounted for $18m. The figures are consultation values, not contracts, and have not been published by the organisers directly.

Four early-stage start-ups from Daegu took a joint pavilion to the Robotics Show at the China International Industry Fair (CIIF 2026) in Shanghai from Oct 12 to 16, and the organisers say they came back with 79 buyer consultations worth $30.469m. The Daegyeong Robot Business Promotion Association and the AI Spatial Computing Center of Daegu Technopark said this in a statement reported by Robot Newspaper (irobotnews) on Oct 16; MEKAWIRE could not find the statement on either organisation's site, so the figures are as reported and unconfirmed.

The pavilion showcased results of the science ministry's 2026 programme supporting robot-based spatial-computing start-ups. Cha Robotics, developing a vision-language-action (VLA) based autonomous manipulation engine and a greenhouse harvest-and-sort demonstration system on a wheeled AI robot, logged $18m in consultations. Washbank, building an AMR-based premium unmanned car-wash robot service, logged $7.82m; Juwon, which combines drones, an electronic nose and 3D SLAM to locate wildfire ignition points, $2.65m; and SisoKorea, developing an AMR-based cleaning robot for indoor water facilities, $1.999m.

The organisers stressed that these are consultation values that still need follow-up talks, proofs of concept and joint R&D to become contracts or exports. That caveat matters: trade-show consultation totals in Korean export programmes are routinely many times larger than signed deals.

For context, MEKAWIRE reported on Oct 14 that Daegu and Gyeongbuk signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai's robot industry technology research institute around the same fair, and Korea's KIRIA will show four humanoids at FIX 2026 in Daegu from Oct 21. The Shanghai push is part of a wider effort by the Daegu cluster to plug its small firms into China's robot supply chain rather than compete with it head-on.
