Foundation
Developer of the Phantom humanoid robot and Cortex AI system, aimed at manufacturing, logistics, domestic and defense work.
Foundation Future Industries, Inc. presents itself as Foundation and says it is building autonomous machines that can do anything humanity wants. Its first production humanoid, Phantom, stands 1.8 meters tall, weighs 80 kilograms, carries a 40 kilogram payload, walks at 1.7 meters per second and has 29 degrees of freedom, driven by proprietary cycloid actuators that the company says combine the performance of hydraulics with the efficiency of electric motors, with peak torque of 160 Nm. Alongside Phantom it develops Cortex, an AI system built around what it calls a physics action model, and it shows applications in consumer goods, beverage and glass manufacturing. Its published master plan names manufacturing, logistics, domestic and defense uses, states that it will work with the Department of Defense, and sets a longer term goal of autonomous transport, energy and building materials for cities on Earth, the Moon and Mars. The company's site does not give a headquarters, founding year, leadership team or any funding figures, and no primary funding announcement was found.
