About
Pollen Robotics was founded in 2016 in Bordeaux, France, by Matthieu Lapeyre and Pierre Rouanet, former researchers in Inria's Flowers developmental robotics team. It builds open-source robots for research and AI development, including Reachy 2, a mobile humanoid with two seven-degree-of-freedom arms and VR teleoperation, and the Reachy Mini desktop robot. Reachy launched at CES 2020, and Pollen placed second in the ANA Avatar XPRIZE in 2022. Hugging Face announced it had acquired the company on 14 April 2025; terms were not disclosed.
