Timken
Ohio bearing and power transmission group whose Cone Drive and Spinea units supply precision gearing for robots.
The Timken Company is a North Canton, Ohio, maker of engineered bearings and industrial motion products, listed on the New York Stock Exchange as TKR. MEKAWIRE tracks it for its robotics components: Cone Drive supplies harmonic gearing for lighter duty robot joints, and Spinea, founded in 1997 in Prešov, Slovakia, makes TwinSpin cycloidal reduction gears and DriveSpin actuators for six axis robots. In August 2024 Timken announced it would buy CGI Inc., a Carson City, Nevada, maker of precision drive systems concentrated in medical robotics, saying the deal would complement its harmonic and cycloidal lines. At the time the company reported more than 19,000 employees in 45 countries and 2023 sales of $4.8 billion.
