ugo is one of the few Japanese service-robot start-ups to disclose unit shipments for a single model. ugo's move to EMS production and multi-robot software signals that it expects fleet orders, which would make inspection a scaled business rather than a series of trials.

The target customers named in the release, semiconductor and automotive plants, power and water facilities and data centres, are all under pressure from a shrinking pool of maintenance staff.

  2. 02

ugo competes with legged inspection robots such as Boston Dynamics' Spot and ANYbotics' ANYmal on industrial sites, and with Japanese patrol and inspection robot makers in buildings. Its wheeled, low-cost design suits indoor plants and data halls with flat floors; legged robots cover stairs and outdoor plant at higher cost. The release gives no price, so a cost comparison is not possible from primary data.

  3. 03

MEKAWIRE's database holds two third-party share allotments for ugo: JPY 850 million in January 2024 and one of undisclosed size in May 2025. No valuation has been disclosed.

  4. 04

Production moves to an unnamed domestic EMS contractor. The G2 uses a 4K camera, an optional optical zoom camera, 3D LiDAR and an ultrasonic sensor; suppliers are not named.

  5. 05

Nov 24, 2026: first G2 deliveries. 2027: OS update enabling ultrasonic driving safety. Any update to cumulative unit shipments or a named multi-robot customer.

  6. 06

Thesis: G2 is a production and fleet bet more than a product leap. Confidence medium: shipments above 100 units are disclosed, but price, margin and order intake are not.

What is the G2 price and the price of the zoom option? How many customers run more than one ugo mini today? Which EMS contractor builds the G2 and what is its capacity? Will the facility dashboard connect to existing plant maintenance systems?
