LG Electronics to open its 10,000 m² Yangjae robot data factory to outside companies and labs

LG Electronics will run the robot AI data factory it is completing this year in Yangjae, Seoul, as an open facility where other Korean companies and research institutes can collect humanoid behaviour data and test robot foundation models, Electronic Times reported on Oct 15; LG has not issued its own release on the plan.
The 10,000 m² site will put several hundred robots to work this year to gather 100,000 hours of training data, the report says, recreating work cells from logistics, electronics, pharmaceuticals, food, textiles, autos, batteries, shipbuilding and chemicals around six common tasks such as box handling, vision inspection, packing, bin picking and kitting, with NVIDIA Omniverse, Cosmos and Isaac used to multiply real data in simulation.
A test bed where at least two Korean robot-foundation-model developers validate their models on LG's robots could start as early as this year. The plan follows the Bloter report MEKAWIRE carried today that Samsung is building its own robot data factory at its Gumi site.
