Beijing embodied AI company that builds wheeled dual-arm robots and VLA foundation models used as a development platform by robot-learning labs.
Galaxea AI was founded in September 2023 and is based in Beijing; Jiyang Gao is founder and chief executive. It builds embodied AI foundation models and robot hardware, including the R1 Pro humanoid, the R1 Lite wheeled dual-arm platform and the Nexo wheeled dual-arm robot it premiered in August 2026, and says it serves nearly 100 clients including Stanford University, Physical Intelligence and Huawei. On 20 February 2025 it said on its official WeChat account that it had closed a Series A round of nearly RMB 300 million led solely by Ant Group, with existing shareholders GL Ventures, IDG Capital, Beijing Robotics Industry Fund, Baidu Ventures and Tongge Venture adding to their stakes. On 9 July 2025 it announced Series A4 and A5 strategic rounds totalling more than US$100 million: A4 was co-led by Today Capital and Meituan Dragonball, and A5 by Meituan Dragonball and Meituan Strategic Investment. It said its Pre-A and A-series rounds together came to nearly RMB 1.5 billion.
