About

Outrider says it is the only company focused solely on automating every part of distribution yard work at logistics hubs, where moving, hitching and unhitching trailers and keeping track of them is still largely done by hand. Its system combines yard management software, autonomous electric yard trucks with vision-based robotics, and site infrastructure, and it includes a patented robotic arm that connects trailer air and electric lines. Early releases described the company as based in Golden, Colorado, and its website now lists an address in Henderson, Colorado. It sells autonomous yard operations as a service and says it works with Fortune 500 companies in parcel shipping, retail, e-commerce, consumer goods and automotive, and it named Georgia-Pacific as an early customer. By October 2024 it said its deployments had completed more than 100,000 autonomous trailer moves. On 19 February 2020 Outrider came out of stealth and said it had raised $53 million across a seed round led by NEA and a Series A led by 8VC, naming Koch Disruptive Technologies, Fraser McCombs Capital, Prologis Ventures, Schematic Ventures, Loup Ventures and the GOOSE Society of Texas as other investors. On 28 October 2020 it announced a $65 million Series B led by Koch Disruptive Technologies, in which NEA, 8VC and Prologis Ventures added to their stakes and Evolv Ventures and Henry Crown and Company joined, for $118 million raised in total. On 19 January 2023 it announced a $73 million Series C led by FM Capital, with a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, NVIDIA's NVentures, B37 Ventures, Lineage Ventures, Presidio Ventures and ROBO Global Ventures joining Koch Disruptive Technologies and NEA, which took its total to $191 million. On 24 October 2024 it announced a $62 million Series D co-led by Koch Disruptive Technologies and NEA, with 8VC, ARK Invest, B37 Ventures, FM Capital, Interwoven Ventures, NVentures, Prologis Ventures, Goose Capital, Lineage Ventures, Presidio Ventures and Service Provider Capital also investing. It said it had now raised more than $250 million in equity and would use the money to scale its service with Fortune 500 customers in 2025.
