Stereolabs began at the Institut d'Optique in Paris, worked on 3D image processing for cinema and then built its own stereo depth camera, the ZED, according to its website. It sells the ZED X camera family, ZED Box edge AI computers based on NVIDIA Jetson modules and the ZED SDK with ROS 2 and NVIDIA Isaac ROS support, for robot arms, humanoids, forklifts, AMRs and agricultural machines. Lidar maker Ouster acquired Stereolabs SAS on February 4, 2026; it runs as a wholly owned subsidiary led by its co-founders, including CEO Cecile Schmollgruber and CTO Edwin Azzam, with offices in San Francisco, New York and Paris.
