About

Naïo Technologies was founded in 2011 by robotics engineers Aymeric Barthes and Gaëtan Séverac and is based in Escalquens near Toulouse, with a US subsidiary in Salinas, California. It designs, builds and sells autonomous electric field robots that remove weeds mechanically instead of with herbicides, among them Oz for vegetable growers, the vineyard straddle robot Ted, the tool carrier Orio and the narrow-vineyard crawler Jo. In January 2020 it announced a €14 million round led by Bpifrance through its Ecotechnologies fund, with Pymwymic, Codema, Demeter and Capagro, after a first round of €3 million in 2015. In December 2022 it closed €32 million led by Mirova, which put the round at 33 million US dollars, and said it had 300 machines in service in 20 countries and 70 staff. In 2026 the company said it had entered a new phase under chief executive Antoine Monville, backed by a €6.4 million financing plan from Mirova, Bpifrance and the Occitanie region's ARIS fund, and targeted 100 robots a year and €11 million in revenue by 2030.
