Verdant Robotics
Hayward, California maker of the SharpShooter, a precision application system that uses computer vision to aim herbicide, fertilizer and other inputs at individual plants.
Verdant Robotics is based in Hayward, California, and builds precision application systems for farms. Its SharpShooter platform uses AI-driven computer vision, which the company calls Aim and Apply Technology, to treat individual plants, so that it can weed, fertilise and apply other inputs in one pass while collecting plant-level data. The company first offered it to specialty crop growers as a robotics-as-a-service model. In April 2026 it extended SharpShooter to grass seed and sod production, where it has to tell grass weeds apart from the grass crop, and in June 2026 it announced a technical integration with Sabanto so that Sabanto's autonomous tractor operation and SharpShooter can run as one system. Verdant pitches the technology as a way to cut chemical use and input costs and to ease labour shortages. On 29 November 2022 it announced a $46.5 million Series A led by Cleveland Avenue, joined by DCVC Bio, Future Ventures and SeaX Ventures and by existing investors Autotech Ventures, Cavallo Ventures and AgFunder. It said the money would let it scale its fleet quickly and develop next-generation products. It has not announced a later funding round on its newsroom.
