Korean AI chip startup DEEPX said its DX-M1M neural processing unit was featured on Raspberry Pi's official newsroom, which described the Sixfab AI HAT+ accelerator board for the Raspberry Pi 5 built on the chip, Venturesquare reported on Oct 15.

DEEPX says the DX-M1M delivers up to 25 TOPS while the NPU itself draws about 3 W in typical continuous use, a figure that excludes the Raspberry Pi and peripherals, and runs CNN vision models as well as small vision-language and language models for robots, smart cameras and industrial equipment.

The board launched with Sixfab in June; a 25 TOPS version is on sale and a 13 TOPS version is due by the end of the year, and the same runtime and model format carry over to the ALPON X5 AI industrial gateway.

For scale, MEKAWIRE's records put NVIDIA's Jetson Thor robot computer at 2,070 FP4 TFLOPS within a 130 W envelope, a different class of on-robot compute.

Good or bad news for the company?
