Seoul's Gangnam district pushes Suseo robot cluster, pairing test sites with Teheran-ro investors
Seoul's Gangnam district held a joint briefing on its planned Suseo robot cluster for robot companies on Sept 17, the district said on Sept 20, as reported by Newsis; the Korea Association of AI and Robot Industry, a co-host, reposted the report, and MEKAWIRE has not seen the district's own release.
The district presented a K-Tech Valley plan that links robot and AI firms developing and testing products in Suseo with the venture investors along Teheran-ro, so that development, testing, fund-raising and overseas expansion can happen inside Gangnam, and said it is seeking designation of a Suseo robot special development promotion district to bring companies and research facilities together.
At the briefing, the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI) presented the Gangnam Robot Plus test field it runs, and Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation outlined a Seoul Robot Tech Center planned on the Suseo station public car-park site with completion targeted for 2031.
District head Kim Hyun-ki said Suseo is becoming a core base for the robot industry with test environments and advanced infrastructure. No budget was given. The plan competes for the same companies as the national robotics zone the government granted Daegu and North Gyeongsang on Sept 30, which MEKAWIRE covered.
