Korean logistics group LX Pantos has opened TDL Lab, a test and validation space for robotics and AI inside its MegaWise Cheongna logistics centre in Incheon, Robot Newspaper (irobotnews) reported on Oct 14, citing the company; MEKAWIRE could not reach an LX Pantos newsroom page, so the details are as reported.

TDL, short for Tech Driven Logistics, is the company's name for a technology-based operating model for its contract-logistics business, and the lab is where partner technologies are checked for maturity and fitted to live operations; photos supplied by the company show AGVs sorting small parcels at the site.

According to the report, LX Pantos has signed TDL cooperation MOUs with seven Korean and foreign firms since April, including LG CNS, Hai Robotics and Libiao Robotics, and has picked five core technologies: mobile robots, robot arms, new mobility, AI and digital twins.

Its roadmap runs from human-robot collaborative warehouses to fully unmanned and then intelligent centres over the next few years. Eo Jae-hyuk, executive vice president in charge of contract logistics, said the aim is to combine robots and AI across warehouse operations rather than simply buy automation equipment.

The opening follows two other Korean logistics-automation moves MEKAWIRE covered this month, Oa's 24% stake in packing-robot maker PyBrain AI on Oct 14 and the Lotte logistics humanoid project with Yujin Robot on Oct 7; Hai Robotics is the only one of the named partners with a profile in MEKAWIRE's database.

Good or bad news for the company?
