Korean lidar maker SOS LAB said on Oct 15 that it has completed development of ML-I, a fixed solid-state 3D lidar that takes power and data over a single IEEE 802.3at PoE+ Ethernet cable, built for infrastructure deployments with many sensors such as its LPGS SPOT parking-guidance and LCAS QMAP crowd-monitoring systems, Robot Newspaper (irobotnews) reported; the company release itself was not found.

According to the report, the ML-I80 has an 80 x 23.3 degree field of view and up to 150 m range at 930 g, the ML-I120 offers 120 x 35 degrees and 100 m at 852 g, and both process 215,040 points per second and operate from minus 40 to 85 degrees Celsius.

SOS LAB said it will show the sensor at the ITS World Congress in Gangneung from Oct 19. MEKAWIRE covered SOS LAB's August memorandum with surgical-robot maker Curexo; ML-I points the KOSDAQ-listed company's revenue push towards traffic and building infrastructure rather than robots alone.

Good or bad news for the company?
