T-Robotics says US Department of War gave its AMRs conditional approval under FCC rule

Korean vacuum-robot and AMR maker T-Robotics (KOSDAQ 117730) said on Oct 26, in a statement carried by Newsis and Money Today, that its autonomous mobile robot and automated guided vehicle lines received a conditional approval from the US Department of War linked to the FCC's Covered List rule on foreign-made robots.

The company did not publish the approval document and MEKAWIRE found no FCC notice naming it, so the claim is unconfirmed.

T-Robotics, a KOSDAQ-listed maker of vacuum wafer-transfer robots and factory AMRs based in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, said on Oct 26 that the US Department of War granted its AMR and AGV product families a conditional approval, according to reports by Newsis and Money Today. The company tied the approval to the Federal Communications Commission's Covered List, which since July has blocked equipment authorization for new foreign-made robot models unless they are exempted.

T-Robotics said the approval secures its AMR supply base in North America and lets it carry out logistics automation projects for US plants and large customers. It named no customer, no model numbers and no conditions or expiry date. Its website newsroom was last updated on Oct 1, DART carried no filing on the matter by 13:10 KST, and MEKAWIRE found no FCC notice naming the company.

Why it matters

Under the rule, a conditional approval is the only route back into the US market for a foreign robot model. MEKAWIRE's FCC Covered List explainer counts four robot approvals the FCC has published so far, for Matic, Anscer, Husqvarna and Volley Automation, and Intel won a one-year waiver on Oct 22 to keep servicing foreign-made robots in its US fabs. If T-Robotics' approval is confirmed, it would join that short list, and its sales pitch is that it can replace Chinese AMRs the rule keeps out. The open questions are scope and terms: whether the approval covers new models or only those already sold, and what conditions the department attached.

T-Robotics builds vacuum robots for semiconductor and display equipment and, on Oct 16, said it had joined a KRW 10.2 billion government project for unmanned physical-AI curing lines in optical-module plants.
