About

Ascento grew out of a project at the Autonomous Systems Lab of ETH Zurich, where the robot was developed over roughly five years before the team took it to market in November 2022. The operating company, Ascento AG, was entered in the Zurich commercial register in February 2023 and has its seat in Zurich. Its product, Ascento Guard, is sold as robotics as a service: the robots patrol large outdoor private sites around the clock, staff follow and take over missions through a cloud platform, and AI software flags incidents and builds security reports. The four co-founders are Alessandro Morra, the chief executive, Miguel de la Iglesia Valls, the chief technology officer, Dominik Mannhart and Ciro Salzmann. On 23 October 2023 Venture Kick announced that Ascento had cleared its final stage, taking the startup's total award from the programme to 150,000 Swiss francs. The company also lists Innosuisse, ESA, NVIDIA's Inception programme and ETH Zurich among its supporters. Commercial register notices record an ordinary capital increase approved on 7 August 2023 that raised share capital to about 138,500 francs, but they do not show how much money came in or from whom.
