About

Diligent Robotics was founded in 2017 by Andrea Thomaz and Vivian Chu and is based in Austin, Texas. Its robot Moxi moves through hospitals on its own, riding elevators, to fetch supplies, carry lab samples and run other errands that do not involve patients, and it entered commercial service in October 2019. The company announced a $3 million seed round led by True Ventures and Ubiquity Ventures in October 2019, a $10 million Series A led by DNX Ventures in March 2020, a Series B of more than $30 million led by Tiger Global in April 2022, and $25 million in new financing led by Canaan in September 2023 with Northwestern Medicine Innovation joining as a strategic investor. It unveiled Moxi 2.0 in October 2025. On 20 January 2026 Serve Robotics agreed to acquire Diligent for $29.0 million in Serve common stock plus an earn-out of up to $5.3 million, describing Moxi as active in more than 25 US hospital facilities with over 1.25 million autonomous deliveries and Diligent as having raised more than $100 million; Serve reported the deal completed in the first quarter of 2026, and Diligent continues as a Serve subsidiary led by chief executive Andrea Thomaz.
