About

Cognibotics AB came out of the RobotLab at Lund University's engineering faculty (LTH) in 2013 and is based at Ideon Science Park in Lund, Sweden. Its founding idea was to calibrate a robot's kinematics using motor torque data, and that grew into calibration products for industrial robots and cobots, the Juliet&Romeo robot programming language with its real-time virtual machine, the SigmaTau system for high-dynamic machining of large parts, and the HKM1800 pick-and-place robot for warehouses. The company describes the HKM1800 as a hybrid-kinematic machine that reaches delta-robot speeds over a workspace of about 10 square metres, manages more than 2,000 picks per hour and draws roughly a third less energy than conventional robots. Its releases name Nowaste Logistics, Boozt and Standard Bots as customers or partners, and in March 2026 it reported a SEK 16 million calibration order from a global robot manufacturer. Early support came from LU Innovation, Vinnova, LU Holding and private investors, according to the company. On 18 June 2026 Cognibotics said it had been selected for 6.5 million euros of EIC Accelerator blended finance, split into a 2.5 million euro grant and 4 million euros of equity from the EIC Fund, to develop and industrialise the HKM1800 platform. Fredrik Malmgren is chief executive.
