About

Path Robotics, Inc. was founded in 2018 by brothers Andrew (Andy) Lonsberry, its chief executive, and Alex Lonsberry, and is based in Columbus, Ohio. It builds robotic welding cells, including the AW-3 for parts up to 70 feet long and the AF-1, which use computer vision, AI and machine learning to fit up and weld steel parts without a human operator; its investors pitch the systems as an answer to the shortage of skilled welders. In May 2021 it announced a $56 million Series B led by Addition with Drive Capital, Basis Set and Lemnos returning, bringing its total to $71 million. A Form D filed on 10 November 2021 reports $99,999,983 sold to five investors, with first sale on 21 May 2021; the filing does not name the round. In October 2024 the company announced a $100 million Series D led by Matter Venture Partners and Drive Capital, with Yamaha Ventures, Taiwania Capital, MediaTek, Catapult Ventures, Gaingels, Addition, Tiger Global and Basis Set, and said it had raised $270 million in total. Its newsroom lists Obsidian, a foundation model for welding, in September 2025, shipbuilding collaborations with Saronic and HII in February 2026, the mobile welding system Rove in April 2026 and performance-based production agreements with HII in August 2026.
