SOS LAB finishes ML-I, a solid-state 3D lidar powered over one Ethernet cable for parking and crowd systems

Korean lidar maker SOS LAB said on Oct 15 that it has completed development of ML-I, a fixed solid-state 3D lidar that takes power and data over a single IEEE 802.3at PoE+ Ethernet cable, built for infrastructure deployments with many sensors such as its LPGS SPOT parking-guidance and LCAS QMAP crowd-monitoring systems, Robot Newspaper (irobotnews) reported; the company release itself was not found. According to the report, the ML-I80 has an 80 x 23.3 degree field of view and up to 150 m range at 930 g, the ML-I120 offers 120 x 35 degrees and 100 m at 852 g, and both process 215,040 points per second and operate from minus 40 to 85 degrees Celsius. SOS LAB said it will show the sensor at the ITS World Congress in Gangneung from Oct 19. MEKAWIRE covered SOS LAB's August memorandum with surgical-robot maker Curexo; ML-I points the KOSDAQ-listed company's revenue push towards traffic and building infrastructure rather than robots alone.

Curexo pitches CUVIS-spine to US surgeons at NASS 2026 as Korea's surgical-robot maker pushes into North America

Korean medical-robot maker Curexo is showing its navigation-guided spine surgery robot CUVIS-spine at its own booth at the North American Spine Society annual meeting (NASS 2026) in San Antonio on Oct 14-17, Robot Newspaper (irobotnews) reported on Oct 14, citing the company. According to the report, the robot guides pedicle-screw trajectories from a surgical plan built on preoperative CT, intraoperative 3D or fluoroscopy images and uses force tracking to show the size and direction of loads on instruments in real time; the outlet said the system holds Korean approval from 2019, CE marking and US FDA clearance and was exported to Brazil and Mexico this year. Curexo has not posted the NASS appearance on its newsroom, and the FDA status is not confirmed on a primary page seen by MEKAWIRE. MEKAWIRE context: Curexo's own releases this year cover a CUVIS-spine approval from Mexico's COFEPRIS and multi-centre innovative-medical-technology surgeries in Korea, and MEKAWIRE reported on Sept 29 on its knee robot exports to Brazil and Paraguay; North America, where Medtronic and Globus Medical dominate spine robotics, is the market where it has least to show so far.

Curexo ships CUVIS-joint knee robots to Brazil and Paraguay and plans a Brazilian surgeon training centre

Korean medical robot maker Curexo said in a press release on Sept 29 that it supplied its CUVIS-joint knee replacement robot to Brazil and Paraguay this year and is working with local partner Energy USA to set up a training centre in Brazil for surgeons from across Latin America. The company recently hosted Brazilian orthopaedic surgeons at its Seoul headquarters to observe CUVIS-joint procedures and train on surgical planning and robot operation, and said it would present its CUVIS-spine robot at the Mexican spine surgeons' association AMCICO meeting in Cancun from Oct 11 to 16. Curexo named Mexico, Argentina and Chile as its next markets in the region. The company says its robots have been used in more than 35,000 surgeries worldwide; in August it also signed an MOU with Korean LiDAR maker SOS LAB to develop spatial-sensing technology for surgical robots. In MEKAWIRE's coverage the move puts a Korean knee robot into a segment where Zimmer Biomet on Oct 13 extended its exclusive distribution of THINK Surgical's handheld TMINI robot.
