- BMW and Embotech pass 1 million driverless car moves in plants, now 3,500 a day
Embotech and BMW Group said on Oct 27 that their Automated Driving In-Plant system has moved one million newly built cars without a driver across four plants in Germany and the UK. The system now handles about 3,500 moves a day at more than 99.5% availability, and the second 500,000 moves took seven months against 15 for the first. BMW board member Raymond Wittmann said the technology is now being rolled out worldwide.
