About

Ecorobotix is based in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland, and was founded in 2014, according to its 2021 funding release, which named Steve Tanner as co-founder and chief technology officer. Its main product is ARA, a tractor-mounted sprayer that uses cameras and AI plant recognition to spot-spray individual plants, a method it markets as Plant-by-Plant care. The company says the approach can cut herbicide, fungicide and insecticide use by up to 95 percent, and in October 2025 it said it offered more than 25 crop algorithms and was present in more than 20 countries across Europe, the Americas and Oceania. Simon Aspinall was chief executive in 2023, and Dominique Mégret held the post in October 2025. On 16 June 2021 the company, then styled ecoRobotix, announced a $14.7 million Series C led by Swisscom Ventures with Verve Ventures, Capagro, 4FO Ventures and BASF Venture Capital, to ramp up ARA production, expand in Europe and develop new treatments, autonomous spraying and cloud services. On 9 May 2023 it announced $52 million (CHF 46 million), made up of $48.3 million of new equity and $3.4 million of financing facilities, led by AQTON Private Equity and Cibus Capital with Swisscanto, Yara Growth Ventures, Flexstone Partners, Swisscom Ventures, BASF Venture Capital, 4FOX Ventures and Verve Ventures, to expand in the Americas and speed up product development. On 13 October 2025 it said it had raised $150 million across a Series C of $45 million in 2024 and a Series D of $105 million in 2025, with the Series D led by Highland Europe and joined by new investors ECBF and McWin Capital Partners through its McWin Food Tech Fund. MEKAWIRE has not found a separate primary announcement of the 2024 Series C, and the company has not reconciled that figure with its 2023 release.
