Overland AI was founded in 2022 in Seattle and is led by co-founder and chief executive Byron Boots, a machine learning professor at the University of Washington, and co-founder and president Stephanie Bonk. Its software includes OverDrive for off road navigation, OverWatch for command and control and Overture for coordinating several robots, and it also offers the ULTRA autonomous vehicle and the SPARK kit for adding autonomy to existing vehicles. The company has supported programmes including DARPA RACER, the Marine Corps NMESIS effort and the Army Robotic Combat Vehicle. Point72 Ventures led a $10 million seed round in May 2024 and 8VC led a $32 million Series A in January 2025. In February 2026 it announced $100 million in new funding led by 8VC, a total that includes a $20 million venture debt facility from TriplePoint Capital.
