AgiBot opens a Hong Kong office as a base for overseas customers and planned joint labs with local universities
Shanghai humanoid maker AgiBot said in a press release on Oct 9 that it has opened a Hong Kong office at Times Square in Causeway Bay to support commercial partnerships, real-world robot deployments and research ties with universities and institutes.
Officials attending the opening included Lillian Cheong, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, and Peter Yan, head of the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES). AgiBot said it has been in talks with the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau and OASES since 2025, and that in May 2026 it announced plans for an international R&D headquarters in the city, joint laboratories with local universities and a Hong Kong embodied-AI co-creation initiative, which it will now roll out in phases.
Co-founder and chief operating officer Jiang Qingsong called the office a way to get closer to overseas customers and research partners. The move follows AgiBot's Sept 30 statement, citing IDC data, that it shipped more than 8,600 humanoids in the first half of 2026, about 35% of the global total, and its 63.6% takeover of STAR Market-listed Swancor, which MEKAWIRE covered in October 2025.
