Bonsystems says its cycloid actuators passed a sea trial on a defence firm's unmanned boat
Bonsystems, a Korean maker of robot reducers and actuators, said on Oct 21 that it has completed a sea trial of its BCSA V4 series actuators fitted to an unmanned surface vessel (USV) being developed by a global defence company, the Korean trade daily Robot Newspaper (irobotnews) reported; MEKAWIRE could not reach the company's website and has not seen a release.
The actuators are built on Bonsystems' own cycloid reduction technology, and the company said they ran stably under wave action and hull motion in open-water conditions, according to the report. Bonsystems did not name the defence company, the vessel, the role of the actuators on board or any order.
Chief executive Kim Chang-hyun said the company would use the result to pursue drive systems for other unmanned defence platforms on land and at sea. MEKAWIRE context: Bonsystems was in talks with Infineon about chips for its own robot-joint drivers, MEKAWIRE reported on Oct 16.
