Power Auto Robotics takes Samsung mobile-robot patents as Samsung gives 126 away free
Power Auto Robotics, a Korean maker of automated electronics-assembly cells, said on Oct 19 that it had taken over Samsung Electronics patents for mobile robots, which store the driving data a robot generates on a server and share it with other robots, at the annual technology-sharing event the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources (MOTIR) holds with Samsung in Seoul, according to a report by Korean trade outlet Robot Newspaper (로봇신문).
MOTIR said in a press release the same day that Samsung offered 202 mobile, display and appliance technologies this year and that 126 of them (about 62%) went free of charge to 99 small and mid-sized companies; since 2015 Samsung has offered 7,210 technologies and transferred 1,461 to 871 firms.
Power Auto Robotics plans to give its i-Series Cartesian-robot insertion cells autonomous mobility and link them with AMRs, cobots and humanoids, aiming at production modules that move and re-form lines on their own.
Samsung's own robotics bet runs through Rainbow Robotics, 35% owned since December 2024, as the MEKAWIRE explainer on the company sets out.
