Samsung SDS said in its third-quarter results release on Oct 29 that it is running physical-AI robot pilots at Samsung affiliate sites, after testing use cases found with group companies in August with outside robot makers including Walden Robotics.

It has also formed a robotics partnership called Team REX (Robotics EXcellence) with physical-AI companies including Rainbow Robotics and Walden, and plans to widen the pilots to more affiliates and tasks based on the results; it gave no robot counts, sites or revenue.

Preliminary consolidated revenue was KRW 3.7725 trillion, up 11.2% year on year, with operating profit of KRW 241 billion, up 3.7%, the company said, figures also filed with Korea's DART on the same day; logistics revenue passed KRW 2 trillion for the quarter at KRW 2.0915 trillion.

MEKAWIRE context: our records show Walden Robotics, the Toyota Research Institute spin-out that raised a USD 300 million seed round at a USD 1.1 billion valuation in July, named Samsung SDS a manufacturing partner on July 28, while Samsung Electronics said at the end of 2024 that it would make Rainbow Robotics a consolidated subsidiary, so Samsung SDS is becoming the group's integrator for both an in-house and an outside robot supplier.

Good or bad news for the company?
