Electric Sheep Robotics
San Francisco startup, bought by Oso Electric Equipment in 2025, whose Dexter system turned commercial lawn mowers into autonomous machines offered as robots as a service.
Electric Sheep Robotics was founded in 2019 and was based in San Francisco, with offices in the Greater Philadelphia area. Its Dexter system retrofits existing commercial lawn mowers so that they can mow without a driver, using lidar, cameras, GPS and ultrasonic sensors, and the company offered it on a robots-as-a-service basis to landscaping and property maintenance businesses short of workers. On 25 January 2022 it announced a $21.5 million Series A led by Tiger Global, with Foundation Capital, Grep VC, Signia Venture Partners and several individual angel investors taking part, which brought its total capital raised to $25.7 million. At that time it said it already had 30 customer contracts and would use the money to grow every part of the company. On 22 October 2025 Oso Electric Equipment of Irving, Texas announced that it had acquired Electric Sheep, after the two companies had worked together on a commercial electric smart mower with AI features that was in service in Texas and California. The terms were not disclosed, and Electric Sheep's former web address now redirects to Oso's robotics site.
