About

Glacier is based in San Francisco and was co-founded by chief executive Rebecca Hu-Thrams and chief technology officer Areeb Malik. It builds AI guided robots for material recovery facilities, which the company says can recognise and sort more than 30 material types at about 45 items per minute, need only 3 feet of conveyor space and can be installed in under a day. It also offers brands item level data on recovered packaging through a service called Glacier Brand Intelligence. In April 2025 it announced a $16 million Series A led by Ecosystem Integrity Fund, with New Enterprise Associates, the Amazon Climate Pledge Fund, AlleyCorp and others taking part. At the time it said its robots were running at dozens of US facilities, including a Recology plant in Seattle.
