About

Cobalt AI, called Cobalt Robotics until 2024, was founded in 2016 and sells security automation to enterprises. Its offering combines AI alarm filtering, remote monitoring and security robots that patrol workplaces, with machine learning software and human oversight working together. It named FedEx and Salesforce among its customers. On 4 June 2024 the company announced, from Fremont, California and Austin, Texas, that investor Dean Drako had acquired it and that it was officially changing its name to Cobalt AI. Drako became chairman and Ken Wolff stayed on as chief executive, and the terms were not disclosed. Earlier, on 9 March 2018, Cobalt Robotics said on its own blog that it had closed a $13 million Series A led by Sequoia Capital, with Sequoia partner Alfred Lin joining its board. Founders Fund and Storm Ventures came in as new investors, and existing backers including Bloomberg Beta and Promus Ventures took part again.
