Nuro
Mountain View self driving technology company that licenses its Nuro Driver autonomy system to automakers and mobility platforms.
Nuro was founded in 2016 and is based in Mountain View, California. It started out designing small electric self driving vehicles that carry goods rather than people, including its second generation R2, and now licenses its core technology, the Nuro Driver, for robotaxis, commercial fleets and personally owned vehicles. In November 2020 it announced a $500 million Series C led by funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, with Fidelity and Baillie Gifford joining as new investors. A $600 million Series D followed in November 2021, led by Tiger Global Management with Google, Kroger, SoftBank Vision Fund 1, Woven Capital and others taking part. In August 2025 Nuro closed a $203 million Series E at a $6 billion valuation, combining a $106 million first tranche announced in April with $97 million from Uber, NVIDIA and other investors, and said it had raised over $2.3 billion to date. The company did not say whether the $6 billion figure was a pre money or post money valuation. In 2026 it announced a European base in Germany and, with Uber and Lucid, a plan to bring a robotaxi service to Houston in 2027.
