Rapyuta Robotics

Rapyuta Robotics is a spin off from ETH Zurich that was set up in Tokyo in July 2014 and is now based in Koto ward. It builds a cloud robotics platform, rapyuta.io, and sells three logistics products on top of it: the Rapyuta PA-AMR pick assist robot, the Rapyuta AFL automated forklift and the Rapyuta ASRS automated storage system. Its first outside funding, announced in January 2015, was a JPY 351 million third party allotment taken up by CYBERDYNE, Fuji Creative Corporation, V-cube and a fund run by SBI Investment. In July 2018 it raised USD 9.5 million in an extended Series A from Japan Co-Invest, Sony Innovation Fund and JMTC Capital along with existing shareholders. In April 2022 it announced a USD 51 million Series C, equal to JPY 6,415 million, led by Goldman Sachs, and put its cumulative funding at about JPY 10.6 billion. In March 2024 it disclosed further equity investments from Link and Motivation and from Togin Lease, a Mitsubishi UFJ group leasing company, without giving amounts.
