RESCUE: Is This Alarm Worth Acting On? Counterfactual Evaluation of VLA Runtime Monitors

David Ahmedt-Aristizabal, Abdelwahed Khamis, Mohammad Ali Armin, Lars Petersson

Runtime failure monitors for robot policies are typically evaluated by how accurately they distinguish failed from successful executions. Yet an accurate alarm may arrive too late for recovery, while an unnecessary intervention may disrupt an execution that would otherwise succeed.

Reflect-VLA: Internalizing Reflective Guidance via Dual-Path On-Policy Self-Distillation for Autonomous Driving

Yuechen Luo, He Chong, Fang Li, Shaoqing Xu, Hexin Zhang, Ruiqi Zhang, Ziying Song, Lei Yang, Zhi-Xin Yang, Fuxi Wen

Reinforcement Learning (RL) substantially improves planning performance in autonomous-driving Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models. However, existing RL methods rely on scalar trajectory rewards that measure overall quality but fail to identify specific planning errors or provide actionable correction signals.

Forward Dynamics Models

Zipei Ma, Junzhe Jiang, Jiahui Zhang, Juntong Zhang, Chun Gu, Bozhou Zhang, Jiankang Deng, Xiatian Zhu, Li Zhang

Vision-language-action (VLA) models and world action models (WAMs) have advanced robotic policy learning by building on pretrained vision-language models (VLMs) and video generative models (VGMs), respectively. Yet VLAs learn without explicit supervision from future world states, while WAMs that condition actions on predicted futures incur extra inference cost and let visual prediction errors propagate into actions.

Dual-Stream Memory for Vision-Language-Action Policies

Yang Wang, Ping Liu, Ruiyu Wang, Xuhua Chen, Lingfeng Zhang, Tao Zhang

Memory-dependent manipulation requires a policy to track execution state and recover visual evidence that is no longer observable. We propose dual-stream memory for vision-language-action policies, assigning these requirements to complementary representations.

RARA: Robust Policy Fine-Tuning through Retrieval-Anchored Representation Alignment for Robotic Manipulation

Xuhui Kang, Sung-Wook Lee, Yan Zhuang, Tianle Zhong, Yen-Ling Kuo

Pre-trained robot policies, such as Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models, provide a strong foundation for generalist robotic manipulation, but adapting them to new tasks with only a few demonstrations remains challenging. Directly fine-tuning a pre-trained policy often achieves strong in-distribution performance, yet it can distort the representations learned during pre-training and weaken the model's generalization ability under out-of-distribution shifts.

Noise Space Learning for VLA Adaptation

Junjie Lu, Chuheng Zhang, Yucen Wang, Yuhua Jiang, Xinyao Qin, Min Xu, Li Zhao

Pretrained vision-language-action (VLA) models encode broad manipulation priors, yet adapting them to specific tasks requires balancing limited robot interaction, computational resources, and safety constraints. Noise space learning (NSL) adapts flow-matching-based VLAs by learning a context-conditioned distribution over noise while keeping the pretrained VLA fixed.

Beyond Actions: Learning Future Operation Targets for Vision-Language-Action Models

Min Lin, Bokai Zhou, Jianqi Lin, Kaiyuan Yang, Yicheng Chang, Junjie Yu, Xiaofan Liu, Jianhua Han, Rui Li, Shen Zhao, Xiaodan Liang

Actions specify what a robot should execute, but do not describe what those commands will achieve. Vision-language-action (VLA) policies nevertheless learn primarily by predicting action chunks from images, language, and state.

Splat2Act: From Captured Scenes to Personalized VLA Manipulation

Xiaomeng Ye, Krishna Jaganathan, Gyubeum Lim, Gunjan Chhablani, Muhammad Zubair Irshad, Zsolt Kira

A user who brings a generalist manipulation policy into their home or office wants it to pick up their objects from their shelves, counters, and tables. Yet even a strong generalist like $π_{0.5}$ achieves 0% pickup success in our captured deployment scenes without adaptation, and collecting real demonstrations in every user's environment is prohibitively expensive.

LAPT-Scale: Scaling Embodied Policies with Latent Action Pre-Training on Human Videos

Zhiyuan Xiang, Peidong Liu, Mingyang Li, Jiawei Li, Wenhow Li, Wenbo Ding, Xiang Deng

Scaling generalist robotic policies is limited by the high cost of collecting embodied interaction data. Large-scale egocentric human videos offer a rich alternative, but they lack robot action labels, and existing action annotation methods are often noisy under real-world visual complexity and diverse manipulation dynamics.

MotorMind: Scaffolding General Vision Language Models for Zero-Shot Robot Manipulation

Bingxuan Li, Siqi Song, Yizhuo Wu, Jiarui Yao, Tong Zhang, Huan Zhang

Vision-language-action (VLA) models have advanced robotic manipulation, but their zero-shot generalization in new tasks and environments remains limited, and their reliance on specialized training keeps them from benefiting directly from rapidly advancing general-purpose vision-language models (VLMs). In parallel, recent agentic robotic systems leverage VLMs for high-level reasoning or coding agents for robot control, but often depend on extensive external models and tools, introducing additional complexity and cost.

WayFinder: Hierarchical Visual-Language-Action for Zero-Shot Waypoint Generation and Low-Level Kinematic Control

Timothy K Johnsen, Marco Levorato

Visual Language Action (VLA) models offer unprecedented generalization for autonomous robots; however, their real-world deployment is frequently bottlenecked by unreliable execution and the prohibitive computational cost of fine-tuning for specific robot embodiments and tasks. To bridge this gap, we propose WayFinder, an end-to-end, closed-loop hierarchical VLA framework that circumvents the need for fine-tuning by decoupling high-level task reasoning from low-level kinematic control.

Urgent Actions Go First: Urgency-Aware Denoising for Real-Time VLA Control

Zibo Wang, Haochen Han, Pengzhen Ren, Mingtong Dai, Fangming Liu

Diffusion and flow-matching Vision-Language-Action (VLA) policies generate action chunks through iterative denoising, incurring substantial inference latency that severely limits real-time robotic control. Existing acceleration methods treat an action chunk as a monolithic computational unit, ignoring a crucial physical reality of receding-horizon control: actions are generated jointly but consumed sequentially, resulting in inherently heterogeneous execution urgencies.

Faster and Better? Benchmark Bugs and Design Limitations Distort the Evaluation of Vision-Language-Action Acceleration

Qiwei Chen, Kaijun Zhou, Nuohui Shi, Zhiyang Li, Yuxuan Feng, Jinyu Gu

Simulated manipulation benchmarks are the standard tool for evaluating vision-language-action (VLA) policies and the acceleration methods that reduce their inference latency for on-robot deployment. On these benchmarks, we observe that some training-free acceleration methods, which approximate the baseline policy's computation, achieve higher measured success rates than the baseline itself.

RawVLA: Embodied Neural Image Signal Processor For Robotic Manipulation

Shuhong Liu, Heng Zhou, Lingfeng Qian, Yuhao Fang, Xianbao Hou, Qianyu Zhou, Lin Gu, Wei Sui, Jianfei Yang, Ziteng Cui

Vision-language-action (VLA) models typically operate on RGB images produced by a fixed camera image signal processor (ISP), leaving the imaging pipeline outside the learning and evaluation loop. We systematically examine the consequences of this overlooked design choice across five fundamental ISP dimensions: gain, sensor noise, chromatic response, tonal response, and bit depth.
