China's surgical robot exports jump 273% to RMB 672M in January to August
China exported RMB 672 million of surgical robots in the first eight months of 2026, up 272.92% from RMB 180 million a year earlier, state broadcaster CCTV's finance channel reported on Oct 22, citing General Administration of Customs data; the figures were relayed by IT Home and MEKAWIRE could not open the customs table itself, so they remain as reported.
According to the report, surgical robots were not the fastest grower among the 13 robot categories customs tracks: intelligent bionic robots exported RMB 1.168 billion, ahead of surgical robots, and cleaning robots made up about 70% of total robot exports.
Guangdong was the largest exporting province with RMB 14.718 billion of robot exports in January to August, while Shanghai led in surgical robots. MEKAWIRE context: the jump means exports were about 3.7 times last year's level (672 / 180), from a small base; China's surgical-robot makers such as MicroPort's Toumai have been moving into remote surgery abroad, including a Seoul to Shanghai procedure covered on Oct 19, and the global field is still led by Intuitive's installed base of da Vinci systems (surgical robots explainer).
