Doosan Robotics commits KRW 40bn to a Doosan venture fund, 11.5% of its equity
Doosan Robotics said in a DART filing on Oct 27 that it will commit KRW 40bn as a limited partner to Doosan New Technology Investment Fund No. 2, a KRW 202.02bn fund run by Doosan Investment, taking 19.8% of it.
The commitment equals 11.47% of the cobot maker's equity and about 1.2 times its first-half 2026 revenue, paid in by capital calls from Nov 13, to find and back promising startups.
Doosan Robotics will put KRW 40bn into a new venture fund run by its sister company Doosan Investment, the cobot maker said in a filing with Korea's DART system on Oct 27. It joins Doosan New Technology Investment Fund No. 2 as a limited partner and will own 19.8% of a fund with KRW 202.02bn in total commitments once fully paid in. The board approved the deal on Oct 27 with all three outside directors present.
The filing gives the purpose as finding and investing in promising venture companies. The money is not paid at once: Doosan Investment, as general partner, calls it in instalments, with the first payment expected on Nov 13. The fund has not been formed yet, so the filing carries no financial statements for it, and the deal needs a report to the Fair Trade Commission. There is no put option or other side agreement.

Commitment and balance-sheet figures from the Oct 27 DART filing; H1 revenue from the company's half-year report as covered in MEKAWIRE's Doosan Robotics explainer. Multiple = 40.00 / measure.
As of Oct 27, 2026
KRW 40bn is 11.47% of Doosan Robotics' equity at the end of 2025 and 10.02% of its total assets. It is also 1.2 times the KRW 32.97bn of revenue the company booked in the first half of 2026. As MEKAWIRE's Doosan Robotics explainer shows, that revenue came with an operating loss equal to 80% of sales, and more than half of it now comes from the former US integrator ONExia.
Why it matters
The commitment turns part of Doosan Robotics' cash into a window on startups at a time when its new management is rebuilding the product line. Chief executive Youngmin Kwon took over on Oct 1, and on Oct 19 the company hired Jang Woong-jun, formerly Hyundai Motor's autonomous-driving head, as CTO to build an agentic robot operating system for 2027. A fund that scouts robot software, sensor and AI startups could feed that plan with deals or acquisitions. The risk is the opposite: cash tied up for years in a group fund while the core business still burns money. The filing does not say which sectors the fund will target; Doosan Investment's first capital call on Nov 13 and the fund's registration are the next markers.
