Gecko Robotics said in a company release on Oct 20 that the U.S. Navy and the General Services Administration have raised the ceiling on its IDIQ contract to $300 million, six months after the initial $71 million award, a step-up of about 4.2 times by MEKAWIRE's arithmetic.

The Pittsburgh company said its wall-climbing robots, drones and fixed sensors find structural problems on ships and submarines up to 50 times faster than traditional methods and can save up to $8 million in repair costs per ship.

At the centre of the expansion is Komodo, a system that scans through thick non-skid deck coatings without stripping them and produces a full-deck heatmap of corrosion and material thickness before a ship enters drydock.

A ceiling is the maximum the government may order under the contract, not money already spent. MEKAWIRE context: Gecko raised a Series D at a $1.25 billion valuation in June 2025 and on Sept 28, 2026 announced work with NVIDIA on security controls for AI agents, both covered by MEKAWIRE.

Good or bad news for the company?
