Monumental
Amsterdam company that builds and operates autonomous bricklaying robots on housing sites in the Netherlands and the UK.
Monumental was founded in 2021 and is based in Amsterdam, and its co-founders include Sebastiaan Visser. It develops its own hardware, software and machine vision for robots that lay bricks on construction sites and runs them in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The company says its fleet of more than 100 robots has built walls for more than 100 homes as well as a school, a community centre and a hotel, and that it employs more than 130 people. It reports more than $60 million raised from investors including Khosla Ventures, Plural, Hummingbird, Northzone, Foundamental and NP-Hard. On July 15, 2026 it announced a $32 million Series B led by Khosla Ventures to put more robots to work and expand into the United States that year.
