Tevel Aerobotics Technologies
Israeli developer of tethered flying robots that use AI and machine vision to pick apples, stone fruit and pears in orchards.
Tevel Aerobotics Technologies was founded in Israel in 2017 and is run by founder and chief executive Yaniv Maor, who previously held senior roles at Mobileye, Teva and Check Point, with Eyal Desheh as chairman. The company gives its address as Agridera Farm in Gedera. Its Flying Autonomous Robots pair artificial intelligence with machine vision and machine learning to harvest apples, peaches, apricots, nectarines, plums and pears, and they log ripeness and disease data as they work, with the ability to run day and night. Tevel names Rivoira Group in Italy, HMC Farms in Kingsburg, California and Unifrutti Group in Chile as harvesting partners. On January 26, 2021 Kubota announced that it was putting $20 million into Tevel in a round labelled Series B, without naming any other participants or a lead. Kubota said then that Tevel expected to begin a commercial rollout of its picking robots during 2021.
