Apple is working on a premium version of its HomeView smart-home hub that mounts a 9-inch display on a motorised arm able to turn 360 degrees around its base and point the screen and speaker toward the voice it hears, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman wrote in his Power On newsletter on Oct 18, as relayed by ZDNet Korea on Oct 19.

The device carries the code name J595 and could reach the market in 2027 or 2028, possibly under a new name or with a Max or Ultra suffix, according to the report. Apple has not announced the product and the details are unconfirmed.

It would be one of the first consumer devices from a large electronics brand to put a moving arm in the home; MEKAWIRE reported on Oct 6 that Kawasaki is building Home LEO, a home-care robot for elderly people living alone, with a fiscal 2028 launch target.

Good or bad news for the company?
