XYZ demos DEUX semi-humanoid that combines 3,000-plus gestures while it talks
Seoul robotics start-up XYZ is running live demonstrations of its DEUX semi-humanoid at the 2026 Industrial AI EXPO with a social-intelligence agent model that mixes more than 3,000 non-verbal expressions, such as nods, hand gestures, facial expressions and sounds, to fit the flow of a conversation, TechM reported on Oct 22; XYZ has not published a release on its own site, so the figures are unconfirmed.
The behaviour comes from XYZ's BrainX robot-intelligence framework, which treats motion pieces built in an in-house tool called Gesture Studio as a grammar and assembles them on the fly, and DEUX also handles objects with two arms and moves omnidirectionally, according to the report.
Chief executive Hwang Seong-jae told the outlet that after physical AI's focus on robot bodies, social interaction will become the next competitive edge in retail stores, offices and homes. MEKAWIRE context: on Oct 20 MEKAWIRE reported that XYZ is supplying 10 DEUX units to NVIDIA's physical AI robotics course in Seoul, where trainees deploy their models on the robot through the same BrainX platform.
