Orbbec signs 10,000-unit deal with ACE Robotics as robot vision sales double
Orbbec said on Oct 29 it signed a procurement agreement with ACE Robotics, the embodied-AI company chaired by SenseTime co-founder Wang Xiaogang, and its partners for 10,000 units of robot vision products and robot-free data collection hardware.
No value was disclosed. Orbbec's Q3 filing says nine-month robot vision revenue more than doubled while net profit fell 31.6%.
Orbbec, the Shenzhen maker of 3D cameras and depth sensors for robots, said on Oct 29 that it had signed a strategic procurement agreement with ACE Robotics and its partners covering 10,000 units of robot vision products and robot-free data collection hardware. The two companies also agreed a broader strategic partnership. Neither side disclosed a contract value, a delivery schedule or the names of the partners included in the order.
ACE Robotics is the Shanghai embodied-AI company chaired by Wang Xiaogang, co-founder and executive director of SenseTime. According to Orbbec's release, the cooperation centres on high-quality real-world data collection at scale and on aligning what the data-collection rigs see with what the robots later see, so that training data transfers to the machines that run ACE's Kairos world model.
Why a camera maker is selling data rigs
The order pairs two products: robot vision modules that go on the robot, and robot-free data collection hardware that records people doing tasks without a robot present. That second category has become the bottleneck item for world-model and VLA developers, which need large volumes of human demonstration data. Orbbec has signed similar partnerships this year with PsiBot, Linkerbot and Tashan, and rival Hesai moved into the same market with its Kosmo data engine in October. Our world model explainer covers why this data matters.
What the third-quarter filing shows
Orbbec's unaudited Q3 report, filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange on Oct 27, explains the bet in numbers. Nine-month revenue was flat at RMB 710.9m, down 0.43%, because the company cut low-margin biometric payment terminal orders. Over the same period its vision solution sales to the global robot market more than doubled year on year, direct overseas revenue doubled, and the company said it has served more than 1,000 robot customers.

Source: Orbbec 2026 third-quarter report (SSE, Oct 27, 2026), unaudited. Net margin = net profit attributable to shareholders / revenue; prior-year Q3 figures backed out from the reported growth rates.
As of Oct 27, 2026
Profit went the other way. Q3 net profit attributable to shareholders fell 32.63% to RMB 32.2m, which the company attributed to higher R&D and administrative spending. R&D reached 24.57% of nine-month revenue, up 4.05 percentage points. Total assets rose 35.28% to RMB 4.62bn after a private placement of new A shares, and board papers dated Oct 27 include governance rules drafted to apply after a planned H-share listing.
MEKAWIRE analysis
Orbbec is trading margin today for a position as the default sensor supplier to China's robot-data economy, and the ACE order is the first disclosed volume commitment behind that strategy.
By our calculation from the filing, Q3 net margin fell to 11.8% from about 17.2% a year earlier, with prior-year figures backed out from the reported growth rates. We found no separate exchange announcement for the ACE agreement in Orbbec's cninfo filings from Oct 20 to Oct 31, so investors cannot yet size it against the RMB 710.9m of nine-month revenue. The counter-argument is that a 10,000-unit framework spread across unnamed partners may convert slowly. The signals to watch are the order showing up in Q4 robot revenue, any H-share prospectus with a robot revenue split, and whether ACE names the partners. Company pages: Orbbec, ACE Robotics.
