Blind in-hand manipulation: sim-to-real Baoding ball rotation with binary touchIntermediate
No Eyes, No Problem: What Does Touch Contribute to Blind Baoding Ball Manipulation?
A Shadow Dexterous Hand Lite with no camera kept two Baoding balls circling for 112.5 full rotations in 310 seconds, using only joint readings and 16 on-off touch sensors, in a University of Edinburgh preprint. Switching the touch signals off cut the average run from 34.75 to 5.00 rotations, showing that even crude touch keeps a dexterous hand going where vision is blocked.
